Bridal Trial & Wedding Day Notes

TRIAL NOTES

Each client is customized to their personal tastes, style, desired look, and everything is taken into consideration at the trial including decor mood, color palette, style of venue & dresses, floral texture and palette, accessories, you natural skin texture/tone, hair texture/length/color, and more. As this is an optional service, most brides choose to do which is highly recommended. I do these on a weekday morning and spend about 3-6 hours with you as we refine and play around with look ideas. Even between trial to wedding day there are always little minor tweaks and changes as we perfect the final outcome.  I am very thorough and detailed with my styling design process.  Your trial should be done no more than 1-2 months prior to event date as styles, trends, and your own skin tone/texture and hair cut/color/texture can vary greatly between seasons. Also, NO SPRAY TANS please - even the good ones have tinges of orange next to a bright white dress and I've seen more regrets with these (like weird hand/face texture spotty pattern, etc) and if you have orange tone on your body I have to carry that through to face so your makeup doesn't look like a mask.

I only do one trial on any given date to give us ample time. This service is more than your day of look because there is more time and product used and considering set up/clean up and your trial it equates to a full day for me.  I do discount this service to brides with their party booking as a courtesy. If you'd like a trial prior to booking I recommend a second one closer to date proximity when we will actually design your day of look.  For out of town brides who need to do the week of the wedding, that's totally fine but I recommend at least two days out to minimize stress and make sure you have ample time with me. Trial makeup tends to be a touch heavier than day of as I'm trying out colors, etc so its not really a look you'd want to wear to an event necessarily, nor do you want to reveal your wedding look prematurely to guests.

We can get your date scheduled about 4-6 months in advance. They are usually done on Tuesday or Wednesday mornings beginning at 9 AM ideally.

WEDDING DAY NOTES

When your wedding day arrives you want a team you can count on with a positive energy ready to start your day on a high note.  We are professional, efficient with time, and value your schedule.  I work in advance to most accurately gauge your timeline by consulting with you or planners, photographers timeline, and day of schedule.  I always ask for a current photo of each person and their inspiration look to judge time needed. Again, I try to do as much advance planning to streamline the day of.  The PDF with those images is best sent about 1-2 months out.  Any sooner than that and people change their minds, get hair cuts, or totally forget what they asked for. On average I spend double the amount of time with bride (2-2.5 hours) and 30 minutes per makeup or updos, 45-60 min for hair down styles and anyone with long thick hair or having extensions.  If you're wanting to be time conscious and minimize maintenance on your bridal party I highly recommend updos.  If the person's hair texture doesn't hold curl well or there is any humidity/wind, styles will slowly droop PLUS takes up more of the morning to complete.  Are you a bridesmaid and want a hair down style but want to increase the longevity, consider a loose romantic updo and pieces draping down, half up style, or I even love a glam pony tail on a wedding day. I prefer clean hair (no more than one day dirty and please no dry shampoo or added texture products, I'll add those if I need to).

On the day of, I always stay up to 8 hours from my arrival time with option to extend hourly for all important photos and moments of the day which is great to have a second set of eyes on standby with photo team to make sure hair is laying nicely, makeup stays fresh, and any other little things that come up like sweat, emotions, wind, weather, or whatever it may be - you want to stay perfect!  I always start fairly early to be able to accommodate as many services myself as possible, 5-7 AM start is fairly standard (sounds early, but trust me the morning ALWAYS flies by!). Make sure you choose somewhere to get ready we have ample time in ONE location.  A location shift can waste about 1.5 hours on a wedding day considering packing up/travel/resetting and finishing.  We bring our own professional chairs & light, we just need ample counter or table space near an outlet in a medium to large area ideal not overly crowded.

What to have after I depart?

Even the best makeup and hair will wear in the long haul of a wedding day and I'd rather have you prepared than not have what you might need. Tools/Products Recommended:

  • Curling Iron/Wand to touch up any pieces down and to smooth crease from veil coming out if not having me there to remove.

  • Lip Touch up (Lipstick and/or gloss to keep fresh), Bring a few if you want me to choose for you.

  • Concealer - Sometimes for under eyes to keep bright/fresh. I don't like heavy powder under eyes and want to keep the undereye dewey/skin like which sometimes requires a little maintenance but looks better

  • Setting Powder - Keep shine down, translucent is best to not create cakey layers over airbrush

  • Facewash/Makeup Remover for end of night - the waterproof products and longwear products can take more to fully remove

A Note from Jillian

One thing to know is that I put my heart and soul into every client and wedding day.  I truly want to create an unforgettable and positive experience for you and am here every step of the way to answer questions, give advice and in general just be there for you through the process.  I value working as a team player with your vendor team and working together to make it the most dreamy day possible.  In doing this almost 20 years I've seen a lot and no matter how much planning goes into the day, unexpected things come up and you need a team that can help stay calm and be prepared to help.  From zippers breaking and sewing, bridal party fainting (yes, I actually caught someone once!), bouquets getting left behind, spills, tears, fire alarms, severe storms, or whatever random things you'd never expect to happen; you need a team with the experience to not just get your through it, but thrive and remain calm under any circumstances.  I've even had to secretly do a full groom makeup when he broke out in an allergic reaction - hives all over the face - and the bride didn't notice or find out until after ceremony to not add any stress to their moment. Suntans, sunburns, spray tans, medical issues - you just never know what can happen.  And at the end of the day your wedding will be a beautiful day surrounded by your most important people and a day you will remember forever. Please know that is it is a complete honor to be a part of and I highly value playing a small part in a special day you will remember forever  Please reach out with any questions and I hope to be a part of your celebration.  Sincerely, Jillian
